Let me introduce myself:

Hi! My name is Cheryl Hawthorne, and I am the Technology Assistant at the Primary and Intermediate campuses. I have worked full time at White Oak ISD for 16 years. Before that I substituted for six years.

I am married to my high school sweetheart, Kenny Hawthorne, and we both graduated from White Oak. We have two children who also graduated from White Oak. Our daughter, Rebecca, is a practicing Physician Assistant at a family medical clinic in Ft. Worth, Texas. Her twin brother, Griffin, lives in Conway, Arkansas, with his wife, Danae, and works at a sports and rehabilitation clinic as an Athletic Trainer.

I have various duties in my job description. I assist in keeping our classroom computers and teacher computers updated and running. I install and update software on all of our computers. Skyward is another area I have my fingers in. I mostly deal with the scheduling and grading areas. My office is in the Intermediate office, but I work for both the Intermediate and Primary campuses.

Summer Fun!

I had such a great time this summer going to the mountains of Colorado with my husband and three other couples who are great friends! We went white water rafting on the Animas River in Durango. The water was cold, and we got drenched many times as our guide navigated our raft down the rapids.

Another day, the girls all went horseback riding through mountain trails while our husbands golfed. The next day, we drove up the Million Dollar Road to Ouray, Colorado, and saw friends from White Oak who now live in Ouray. We shopped in their toy store/gift shop, and then we took off in a jeep-like vehicle on a tour in the Uncompahgre National Forest. It was a very bumpy ride, but the scenery was breathtaking! The wildflowers were blooming. There were beautiful mountain streams bubbling over the rocks. We even saw where they filmed a scene from Indiana Jones. Do you remember the scene where Indy picks up a treasure, and the huge rock starts rolling toward him? We saw where they filmed this! I even had to put on a light jacket because it was so cool up the mountain that day! I haven’t needed a jacket in White Oak all summer! How about you?

I hope your summer was as wonderful as mine, but now it’s almost time to get back in the swing of school. We are getting things ready for all of the students, and we are ready to see all of you!!
